Foster & Length Studio is a private hair extension studio in Lake Country, BC, working with women across the Okanagan. Both of the services on this page happen at the end of install day, in the same appointment, rather than at a second one.
Cut and blend
Extension hair arrives blunt and all one length, because it has to. The cut is what turns that into hair that looks like it grew out of your head: the ends softened, the layers cut through both your hair and the added hair at once, and the weight taken out where your own hair is finer so the two do not sit as separate tiers.
It happens at the end of install day, in the same appointment. That is not standard everywhere and it matters more than it sounds. Going home to wait for a second appointment is exactly how people end up believing extensions look obvious, because for those few days they genuinely do.
It is also the part that is specific to you rather than to the method. Two clients can have identical rows fitted and walk out looking completely different, and the difference is here.
Style and finish
The last part of the appointment, and the first time you see the whole thing finished. The hair is dried and styled properly so you leave looking the way the install is meant to look, rather than leaving to work it out at home in the morning.
It doubles as the handover. This is where you find out how the hair behaves, what it wants, which products are worth having and which are not, and how to get roughly this result yourself on an ordinary Tuesday. Most of the questions people would otherwise text a week later get answered here instead.
It is also available on its own, later, for an event. Clients wearing extensions full time book it before a wedding or a shoot rather than attempting it themselves.
Where this sits in the day
Install day runs two to four hours for most methods. The cut and the finish are the last part of it, and nothing goes home unblended.
