Extension toning
Extension hair drifts. It picks up warmth from sun, from water, from product, and it does it at a different rate than your own hair does because it is no longer attached to a scalp. Left alone, hair that matched perfectly in March reads brassy against your roots by August.
Toning corrects that drift. It is a short appointment and it is the single cheapest thing you can do to keep an install looking like it did on day one. Most clients fold it into a move-up rather than making a separate trip.
Where colour sits in the order of things
Matching happens at the consultation, before anything is ordered. Toning happens later, as upkeep, usually alongside a move-up.
